The Royal Billy Goat Hall

Emily, a little girl obsessed with English, stood with her mouth open in the front row of the Royal Billy Goat Hall. Before her eyes were various singing animals of skill she had never heard before, although it’s clear that an eight year old hasn’t really heard much. Suddenly, a particularly talented panther broke into a guitar solo. They were covering a Pixies’ song: “Motorway to Roswell”. The song contained an obvious grammatical mistake, but surprisingly she didn’t flinch when she heard it.

It was the very first time in her little life where she just let something slide.
